(Note: To get an invitation to my March 2021 online class, Meditation Tips for Loosening White Privilege Conditioning, for White Practitioners, or to get a notice when my book is published, send me a message through the Contact Me page.)
I am a social entrepreneur, father, husband, and activist, in Oakland, CA.
I co-founded the East Bay Meditation Center in Oakland, in 2006. In a former life, I co-founded Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility (WPSR), Washington Peace Action (now defunct), and Cafe Flora, in Seattle, WA in the 1980's and 1990's.
When I was a teenager, my family moved to France, where I attended a French high school, became fluent in French, and completed three years of French medical school (while passing as French), before moving back to the U.S. to attend the University of Washington Medical School.
I left a prospective medical career aside after my third year of medical school, the year I was introduced to both activism through WPSR and meditation through Ram Dass.
Ever since, my life has been a journey of bringing together spirituality and social change.
